Free flu clinic set for October 18, 2003

Denver, CO – Kaiser Permanente will offer free flu shots at its annual flu clinic on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003.

The clinic will be held at all Denver/Boulder medical offices except the Boulder Medical Offices. Boulder patients are encouraged to receive their shots at the Baseline Medical Offices at 580 Mohawk Drive, Boulder. The clinic will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Anyone wishing to reduce their chances of getting the flu is encouraged to get a flu shot. Kaiser Permanente recommends flu shots for all people over the age of 50, but particularly those considered at high risk of getting the flu. High risk people are those who are 60 and older, children between the ages of six months and 23 months old, persons with diseases of the heart and lungs including asthma, persons with diabetes, health care workers, and women in their second and third trimesters of pregnancy.

Those who cannot attend the clinic can receive a free flu shot at a nurse visit from Oct. 20 to Nov. 28 at all Kaiser Permanente medical offices. Nurse visits are available on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Beginning Dec.1, members will be charged a copayment for their flu shot.

Kaiser Permanente members in Colorado Springs are encouraged to visit their primary care providers to receive a flu shot or they can call Memorial Hospital’s HealthLink at (719) 444-CARE for a schedule of area flu shot clinics.

Members are encouraged to call the Kaiser Permanente Flu Hotline for updates at (303) 344-7600.
